Question: Some MIBs in text mode are displayed on a single line

Answer:
The cause of this problem was identified to the Skype add-on in Internet Explorer 6 or 7. To correct the problem, you must disable the Skype add-on:

Tools->Manage Add-ons->Enable or Disable Add-ons...
then, select "Skype add-on (mastermind)" and click on the radio button to Disable the add-on. Restart IE and the problem should be gone.

Question: Where can I read a tutorial on SNMP?

Answer:
The best pointers for SNMP information is in the official SNMP FAQs. mibDepot provides them here as well as FAQs I collected from mibDepot users over time.
Question: How do I find out what MIB 1.3.6.1.4.1.23.2.73.0.6 is?

Answer:
Because the trap OID has a zero (0) before the last digit means it is a trap using the SMIv2 notation. The problem arises sometimes when the MIB is written using the SMIv1, with an enterprise OID and a trap-specific number. If you cannot find that trap OID at mibDepot, try searching for that same OID after taking out the zero (0) and the last digit. For example, in this case, you would search for 1.3.6.1.4.1.23.2.73
Question: How can I find out if mibDepot has the MIBs for router X from vendor Y?

Answer:
mibDepot does not maintain the mapping of which MIBs applies to which device. Manufacturers have, themselves, sometimes a difficult time tracking that themselves, so it would be an impossible task for mibDepot. Instead, you will need to visit that vendor's support site or MIB site. See the Downloads section for several of them and sort it out for yourself. Sorry!
Question: Where can I find MIBs from vendor XYZ?

Answer:
First, you should contact the manufacturer for support. They usually have their own web site. Often, you can try:
http://www.vendor.com/support/mibs
where you would substitute the vendor name.

If that does not work, mibDepot may have these MIBs. If you know the vendor you are interested in, you should select Vendor/IETF MIBs here or in the menu on the left. Then, clik on the vendor you are interested in. Note the Miscellaneous section which comprises lots of MIBs from vendors with only one or a couple of MIBs, each.

Question: How do I download MIBs from your site?

Answer:
All MIBs supported by mibDepot can be downloaded from the Downloads section.
